[titled_box title=”About Bill Goben” variation=”blue”]
Bill Goben was born in Oklahoma City, OK and moved to Montana in 1953 at the age of 7. My dad accepted an appeal to help the churches in Montana. The family farm that was paid for was sold in Tuttle, OK and we migrated to Bozeman, Montana much to the amazement of family and friends. My father preached in several locations in the Northwest until his death in 1980. My two brothers, Gene and Wayne (both deceased) also became preachers, as well as one brother-in-law, Dan Fraser, who preaches in Lincoln, Nebraska. My youngest sister is married to a man who has served as an elder in three congregations in Montana and Wyoming. I graduated from Bozeman Senior High in 1964 and attended York College, York, Nebraska, Friends University, Wichita, Kansas and Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas. While in college I preached in Norwich, Kansas for over 2
years.
Married to Shirley Claar since November 5, 1966 and have four adult daughters and four grandchildren.
I preached for the church in Glendive, Montana for over 21 years from October 1969 to March 1991 when we moved to Billings, Montana to serve the congregation for 23 years. I am retired from fulltime ministry but still teach classes and preach when and where needed. I have served on the board of Yellowstone Bible Camp for 25 years and recently assumed the role of general manager of Yellowstone Bible Camp and the 10 weeks of camp sessions each summer. I still manage a family camp session each year as well as the Labor Day Retreat and auction.
My wife and I enjoy the mountains, especially the spectacular Beartooth mountain highway that links to Yellowstone National Park where we try to spend a couple of weeks a year. We like to camp in our RV and ride our dual sport motorcycle in the national parks and forest service roads.
